You're doing more sport, which means you're building muscle... and muscle weighs more than fat. So you can look thinner without losing pounds! This is especially true if you have not exercised for a long time. In general, if you decide to resume physical activity, it's advisable to be assisted by a coach or an experienced friend, who will advise you of the best moves so as not to strain or injure yourself. This includes cardio training and weight training. Indoor cardio exercises like an exercise bike, stepper, treadmill or rowing machine are great for melting fat. Don't go too fast though! It's tempting, but you could cause yourself an injury!
